ATLANTA — Learning to create value as part of a diverse, multi-dimensional approach to health and wellness and making patient value the number one job of everyone in your company were two key messages delivered by Michael McLinden, partner and chief strategy officer for Mc|K Healthcare in Boston, MA, who presented this year’s Opening Session during the Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association (HCEA) Healthcare Convention Marketing Summit. The Summit was held January 22 – 23, 2014, at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown and drew 140 participants.
The newly formatted HCEA 2014 Summit offered an additional half day of programming, as well as panels and interactive sessions on topics including: transparency and its impact on the future of congresses in the U.S. and internationally; the business of healthcare meeting locations including site selection; accountable care organizations and integrated delivery networks as part of the emerging healthcare marketplace; the latest on the Open Payments Program (Physician Payments Sunshine Act) from the Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS); the future direction of healthcare marketing from the perspective of young, up-and-coming brand marketers; and consumer-oriented marketing as an emerging frontier with a case-study from the American Diabetes Association (ADA).
On the first day of the Summit, Dr. William Trombetta, Esq., Professor of Healthcare Strategy & Marketing at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia provided a session on healthcare marketing strategy as part of HCEA’s new Senior-Level Education. Topics included shareholder value developments over the last year, strategic implications and analyzing consumer lifestyle. “Dr. Trombetta’s Senior-Level Session helped set the stage for the Summit and coincided with key messages from the Opening Session and other presentations that followed and we look forward to continuing to provide this type of educational offering during the HCEA 2014 Annual Meeting scheduled for June 21 – 24 in Cleveland, Ohio,” said Mike Pennington, Executive Vice President of HCEA.
In keeping with utilizing the latest technology and creating a more sustainable meeting, a native mobile app for iOS and Android phones and tablets, sponsored by EventPilot Conference Apps, was accessible for attendees. The professional EventPilot Conference app assisted Summit attendees with keeping track of the current agenda, taking notes, viewing speaker information, accessing PowerPoint presentations and the attendee list, and building their schedule. The app will continue to be available until the next Summit.
