EventPilot Web Version is ready for AT&T’s launch of the new Nokia Lumia 900

While the smartphone marketplace is very well established with Android (50%+) and iOS (30%), AT&T is making some waves with its new Lumia 900. If your attendees are showing up with a Lumia, no worries: Each EventPilot conference app implementation includes a free web app version to cover devices other than iOS and Android – including Windows Phone 7 devices. We have tested our new version of the web app on the Lumia 900 and it’s looking very nice. The browser is fast and renders the pages quite well.

Gartner is estimating Windows Phone 7 to reach a marketshare of 8.6% by the end of the year and iSuppli suggesting even an increase to nearly 17% by 2015, snatching some percentages from iOS.

Overall, the marketplace is not going to shift as dramatically when Google entered the market with Android. Microsoft/Nokia may potentially grow into the third real competitor in this group but so far, US marketshare for WP7 devices is still small and grouped into “Other” in a recent Nielsen blog. (Total Microsoft marketshare is 3.9%)

We’ll see – the Lumia 900 launch seems to be starting quite well and the Windows Phone 8 OS (Windows Phone Apollo) is appearing on usage analytics.

Stay up-to-date with ‘your’ OS landscape

The mobile OS use of attendees in your particular industry may be quite different than the general mobile app market. A simple question in your event survey or in the registration form asking attendees about their device will help you stay informed about OS shifts in your industry.
